Partners
Save The Children Honduras
Missoula Medical Aid is lucky to have some amazing partners in our work, chief among them, Save The Children Honduras. SCH exemplify the ideal “of the people, by the people, and for the people.” As our partner in Honduras, they help direct us to areas of need, making sure that our efforts are focused and don’t duplicate the work of other relief teams. They handle transportation and lodging logistics, recruit patients in the villages, help us with medical referrals for our sicker patients, and offer ideas and encouragement. They patiently answer our questions and act as cultural teachers to our teams. They do all this in addition to their own important work, which includes education, agriculture, economic development, health, and other community projects. Respected throughout Honduras, they lend an air of legitimacy to our small teams from Missoula.

The Enrique Aguilar Cerrato Hospital, La Esperanza, Honduras
The hospital in La Esperanza generously welcomed our medical personnel early on in our history. Then as we sought to expand our clinical work in the department of Intibucá, they provided operating room time and nurses for our surgical teams. Now, each year we send surgeons to the hospital to work on orthopedic cases.
Hospital San Lorenzo, San Lorenzo, Honduras
Our close relationship with the hospital in San Lorenzo has developed over many years. Now, each year, we send an OB/GYN to see and treat patients at the hospital. The staff helps by providing office space for consults, the use of their ultrasound machine for exams, and by offering their operating room and nursing staff for surgeries and deliveries.
The La Esperanza Lion's Club
The La Esperanza Lions’ Club has well-appointed eye and dental clinics for low-income people. Just a few years ago, the dental clinic was not functioning because of a lack of staff. Now MMA pays the salary of a Honduran dentist to work in the clinic three hours a day, five days a week, fifty weeks a year. The Lion's Club provides the space, the equipment, the supplies, and the clinic management.
