dba Pocket Products, Inc. President & Owner, Plum Development, LLC

After graduating from San Diego State University with a B.S. in Management Science with an emphasis in Operations Management, I worked for General Dynamics Electronics Division as an Operations Analyst and later for the Tactical Systems Division as an Engineering Master Scheduler. I graduated from Purdue University with a Master of Science in Management with an emphasis in Strategic and Small Business Management and Marketing. I was particularly interested in marketing and inventory analysis for small business.
I am the co-owner and CEO of L.L. Nelson, Inc., located in Missoula, MT. L.L. Nelson, Inc. dba Big Sky Billiard Supply is in its 15th year of business in what has become a challenging market for retail recreational products. In addition to strategic planning, I am responsible for tax and financial planning, strategic and marketing planning, and inventory control.
For seven years, I managed the operations for another division of L.L. Nelson, Inc. dba Pocket Products. I designed one of Camping World’s best selling products (25,000 units/year) in 1999 and it was denied my patent in 2002. I received a Design Patent on my other product, the RV Closet Pockets, and I intend to license this product in the future. I am also applying for a Design Patent for a shoe storage product directed at the children’s market. My consulting work focuses on the area of product development and national/international introduction and marketing.
My experience, though as diverse as general contracting and engineering scheduling, always brings me back to the operation of a small business and I consider myself to be a serial entrepreneur. I have two children, one of whom is a teenager just getting her license and another rambunctious girl of ten, both of whom keep me very busy. My husband and I have been married for 15 years and we enjoy golfing and running a business together. We were both born in Wyoming and we love the Missoula area; we are not likely to leave in our lifetimes. I enjoy writing sci-fi romance novels, reading anything historically relevant to the American story, and writing a blog about current political affairs.
